Teen age girls

Over 1.5 million people throughout the world are between 10 and 25 years old. This is the largest generation of young people in history. In many areas of the world a young person’s sexuality is not accepted before they are married. This creates a problem for young people when it comes to access to contraceptives, counselling, and healthcare. Young women are especially affected by problems related to sexual and reproductive health as well as injuries caused by unsafe abortions and childbirth. In addition, young women are much more susceptible than boys of the same age to the risk of being infected by HIV/AIDS. Young people must be given the opportunity to be included in the formation of their own lives and be provided with the ability to strengthen their capacity to make decisions that affect their sexual and reproductive health in a positive way.

Its great reading through your programs and activities.I would find it more beneficial to our local young people if we can partner in such programs here in Kenya.

SRHR in 2 minutes

Various clocks

Everyone is entitled to a satisfying and safe sex life. We all have the right to decide if, when and with whom we have sex, as well as if, when and with whom we have children. Those are some of the foundations in the work for sexual and reproductive health and rights – SRHR. Here are a few others:

Everyone should be given the information they need in order to protect themselves against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.

Women should not have to die due to pregnancy.

Everyone should have access to contraceptives.

Everyone is entitled to choose for themselves whether they want to marry, and with whom.

Abortions should be legal, accessible and safe.

LGBT people should be able to live their lives as they choose, free from discrimination.

Mothers and infants should be given adequate health care.

Sexual violence must stop.

Young people should be provided with quality sexuality education at school.

Sexuality education should be a compulsory element of coursework for those studying to become teachers.
