How soon would a person know whether they have been infected with an STI? Can symptoms appear after as long as a year?
Many of those infected with chlamydia, gonorrhoea and HIV, for example, don’t notice anything. If you do get any problems, they usually appear around three weeks after infection. It’s also possible for the symptoms to appear later, for example with genital warts (condyloma), although it is not common. When it comes to HIV, you can be symptom-free for many years.
