New sexuality education website in 16 languages

RFSU launches My body, a digital platform offering reliable information about the body, health, and sexuality in 16 languages. It is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about sexuality and health in the language they feel most comfortable with.

Many people in Sweden have limited access to sexuality education in their native language. This can make it challenging to navigate the healthcare system and find information about health and sexuality. My body therefore provides information in 16 different languages, including Arabic, Somali, Ukrainian, and English.

– Everyone has the right to know about their body and rights, but language can be a barrier. With My body, we’re making knowledge accessible to more people in a way that hasn’t been done in Sweden before, says Sonja Ghaderi, project manager at RFSU.

My body answers questions about everything from contraception and STIs to menstruation and consent.
– We’ve focused on the topics that our audience has asked for the most—like the clitoris and orgasm, Swedish laws, menstruation, and sexually transmitted infections, says Sonja Ghaderi.

Used for sexuality education across Sweden

The films, discussion guides, and glossaries included in the My body platform are already in use. Across Sweden, schools, healthcare professionals, and RFSU’s local branches are using the material in various settings where clear information about sexuality and health is needed.

Information about My body is now being spread through social media, strategic partnerships, and posters to reach an even wider audience. With everything now gathered in one place, Sonja Ghaderi hopes more people will gain access to both information and conversations about sexuality and health.

– We encourage all visitors not just to watch the material, but also to talk about it with others. Each film comes with translated reflection questions and tips on how to discuss it with, for example, friends, colleagues, family members, or others, she says.
